These are the forgotten Islands of Toronto. Taken at the south end, the Island is subject to a new airport terminal threatening to change the island with new sounds, winds and traffic. Is this a good thing?

Summer, May 2011, Shantou, China - Late Submission.
During the summer of 2011, I went to Shantou, my ancestral home. It is around an hour bullet train ride from Hong Kong. Although it was my first time in Shantou, I could immediately feel like I could feel some connection to the community. Lets just say it was great to embrace the Chinese in me!
First thing I did, was join my family for lunch at a local restaurant for a traditional chiu-chow lunch. |
A residential neighborhood just outside of the restaurant. |
This is just a snap of my uncle's highschool's main courtyard. |
Koi fish haven. |
Anti Koi Fish. - All jokes aside, this was a great seafood restaurant. I had a piece of that giant fish, bathing in its glorious fish broth. It was good with a beer. |

Monument to Melancholy.
This is a monument to melancholy.
Melancholy is not depression. It is not sadness. Nothing close.
It is a sense of optimism.
Recalling the world above.

Ducky Swimming in Victoria Harbor |
So this giant rubber ducky has visited Hong Kong. I was lucky enough to capture it before it left a few days ago for another city. Designed by Dutch artist Flrentijn Hofman to 'put a smile' on people's faces. It stands 54 ft-high. It has already visited Sydney, Osaka and Auckland and its next destination is undisclosed. Please, go to Toronto!!!
